Do you struggle with self-esteem and feel as though your self-worth depends on the approval of others? Do you struggle finding meaning in your life and don’t know who you really are anymore? Are you overwhelmed by your emotions? Perhaps you feel different or like you don’t fit in?
Mission Statement
Open Heart Psychotherapy aspires to enhance the relationship you have with yourself, your loved ones, and how you relate to your world. The aim is to assist you in building inner strength, and self-acceptance, in order to thrive. These three tenets are drawn from the concept of self-compassion. Through self-compassion, and consequently the development of a secure attachment with oneself and others, we can:
Build Inner Strength
Build inner strength by minimizing self-judgment and criticism while we are in the midst of emotional turmoil or weathering strong life obstacles; and,
Accept Yourself
Develop self-acceptance by not only treating ourselves in a loving, kind manner, but also by cherishing who we are as a person – similar to how we aspire to treat those in our lives whom we love;
Thrive
Thrive – once we develop self-acceptance, and build our inner strength, previous barriers to healing will no longer be insurmountable. Instead, we can feel authentic as we move closer toward a meaningful life that is in line with our values.
